CVE-2026-81822
AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm
02 Description
AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm
03 Exploitation and scoring
- Exploitation
- Assessed, none found. CISA's assessment recorded neither public exploit code nor evidence of exploitation when it was made.
- SSVC decision
- ExploitationnoneCISA recorded no public exploit code and no evidence of exploitation.
- AutomatablenoAt least one step from reconnaissance to exploitation cannot be reliably automated.
- Technical ImpacttotalSuccessful exploitation gives total control of the vulnerable component.
- EPSS probability
- 0.11% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days.
- EPSS percentile
- Equal to or higher than the score of 1.3% of scored records. A rank, not a probability.
- NVD base score
- 8.3 (CVSS v4.0), scored by the NVD independently of the CNA.
- NVD CVSS vector
- CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:H/SA:N/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:X/AU:X/R:X/V:X/RE:X/U:X
- NVD analysis status
- Deferred. NVD last modified this record on 2026-09-11.
- Red Hat severity
- No Red Hat rating. Red Hat rates the CVEs that affect its products.
Exploit-prediction scores from FIRST. Independent scoring and analysis status from the NVD. Vendor severity from Red Hat. Exploitation assessment and catalog membership from CISA.

07 Remediation
AVEVA Pipeline Simulation media delivers AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor: * All affected versions can be fixed by upgrading to AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor 2025 SP1 P2 or higher: https://softwaresupportsp.aveva.com/en-US/downloads/products/details/021a26a7-200f-44eb-8cc9-cd57b7e349aa
AVEVA recommends that organizations evaluate the impact of these vulnerabilities based on their operational environment, architecture, and product implementation. Customers using affected product versions or affected PIMBoards project files should take the following actions to mitigate the risk of exploit: * Apply AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor 2025 SP1 P2 Security Update and migrate old project files. * For project files that cannot be migrated (e.g. backups or transient copies), evaluate the risk of potential password leakage from these files and implement stricter read access controls to protect these unsafe files. * Require AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor PIMBoards users to change their passwords. Important: PIMBoards Project Files migration from older versions to AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor 2025 SP1 P2 is one-way due to the changes in password hashing algorithms and end-user managed encryption keys.
